About a week ago the hot water heater developed the drippies. Not a notable immediate crisis because the thing was installed with a drip pan piped out through the fold up.

Cold, stone deathly. No sputter or warning. Mind you now, the gas gauge has been giving only a rumor for a duo of years, sometimes swinging from full to empty or vice versa with no warning. Fill the attitude up, reset the trip odometer and watch the miles. No enigma. We know the tank was filled first of the week, should be good for 450 miles, only 90 on the clock. But, can't gather the fuel pump running. Tapping on the tank makes for empty deceitful sound. Probe down the filler and the tank is bone dry. Seemingly somebody bagged me for around 20 gallons at work the sundown before. Hope running E85 in their car destroys their engine.
Roomie brings us a liberal can of gas. We prime the pump and bleed the air...

Surging Problem 2001 PT 13k miles
My 2001 PT Cruiser has developed a difficult and I can't seem to figure out what is wrong.
My wife drives the car and she complained about it surging when sitting at a a close light. She always drives with the AC on.
I tested the car and it did exatly what she said, I also discovered when you rev it up in garden, it acts almost like you're hitting a rev limiter. It revs about half way and then surges like a rev limiter has kicked in. Ill-starred I didn't look at the tach. The surge at resting in gear (automatic) seems to go away a little when you turn off the AC.
On my check up on drive the surge would happen while stopped at a light. While driving I floored the gas pedal and expected the stream to happen but it didn't the car felt fine all the way past 65MPH. That surprised me.
I observation the AC compressor might be freezing up but no evidence of any problem when watching the area with the AC on in park at idle.
I did notice with the hood up and in park if I stomped on the gas pedal I would be told a sound similar to a pop off valve just before the engine began to rev up, almost as if a hose had be involved a arise loose. I checked for loose hoses, didn't find any.
So I told my missus to drive the car the next day on her errands. She said it was fine except for the surging at the terminal light. However, on her way home the temperature guage pegged, hot idiot scintillation came on and when she parked the car she could hear the coolant boiling into the overflow tank.
I looked again to see if the zone had broken, thinking the AC compressor had foze up and the belt flat....it was fine and all looked OK. I could not see the water pump so I don't know if it froze up and is causing the tough nut to crack. No squeal like the belt is rubbing against a dead block so I don't think the water pump is the problem.
No water shows on the oil dip stick.
