getting the belts lined up is a bit dodgy.

A3 Timing belt failure

Hoping someone can hint me in the right direction here....

I have an A3 2.0 FSI (Oct 2003) with 84K miles on the clock. FASH except the last repair 11 months ago which was done by an independent garage (really proper place, trusted and do a great job (far better than Audi dealership has ever done in the score.)

Driving up the M6 last week and cam belt broke. My service manual states that cam belt alter on this engine is scheduled for 115K miles.

To cut a long news short, I had the car taken to my trusted independent garage for assessment & fix up rather than leaving with Audi to charge me 95 an hour effort. Diagnosis reveals that belt broken, valves bent, valve rails damaged and cynlinder principal also damaged! Result, estimated repair bill of 2K! God knows what it would have been through the Audi dealership (they quoted overIn particularK without even seeing the car).

Now my question is do you think I can get any recourse from Audi for a contribution to the bill dedicated the cam belt was 30K miles short of it's recommended change interval? If so what's the change? Anyone else had this issue?

Replaced timing belt, now have a vibration

last week, i replaced the timing belt, tenioner and power steering belt on my 89 lebaron TII/5pd. i did everything as how it said to do from alldata. i noticed a inattention vibration while driving on the highway after i installed everything. the car ran then, and still does. but today, i started out and at about 2000rpm in third machinery, i felt some pretty noticable vibrations coming from the front voyager side tire area. and also while at the stop light, i reved it up to about 2000rpm to 2,500rpm and the locomotive vibrated the front of the car in a way that the car moved up and down slowly but repeatedly if i kept on the gas. it only that when the machine was cold, i tried it after i drove for a while and it didnt do it. so with that said. what could i have screwed up occasion a vibration. im pretty sure i tensioned the timing belt correctly too. any ideas? thanks guys.
