Check Tyre Pressures to Save Fuel

Car tyres puffed up to their correct tyre pressure can save the motorists up to 10% on their nutriment bill. But a survey by TyreSafe reveals many are ignoring this advice.

Maintaining the car maker's recommended tyre pressure can:

4) Have a stubborn environmental impact by reducing the number of tyres that stress to be disposed of and reduce harmful gas emissions from the car engine.

TyreSafe's recommendation is to check air pressures at least once a month and always before a long journey. Motorists should use the producer's recommended tyre pressure. This can be found in the vehicle's handbook or on a dish inside the fuel filler flap.

While checking air on conduct a visual inspection of the car tyre to ensure it is in reliable condition. Look for cracks or unusual bulges. Stones lodged in the tyre tread should be removed. If in any scruple about the tyre's condition consult a specialist such as Merityre for a on the house car tyre check.

It's a legal requirement to maintain a tread extent of a minimum 1.6mm in a continuous band throughout the central three-quarters of the tread extensiveness and over the whole circumference of the tyre. PGO working on rotary valve scooter engine

The favourable ‘ol four stroke internal combustion engine has life radical in it. Despite the fact that the world’s oil supplies are getting more overpriced and harder to extract, the short-term truth is that there’s still no cheaper way to power a instrument than with petroleum. This being the case, engineering work is still being done on the basic diagram of the engines that power our cars, motorcycles and scooters. Further data of this truth comes by way of Taiwanese scooter manufacture PGO, which has partnered up with RCV Engine Ltd. of the U.K. The two firms are working on rotary valve technology for scooters. So far, the rotary valve engines have actually only made waves in the model aircraft industry, a market that RCV is very brisk in, but PGO believes the engines in the 125-150cc range could power its scooters.

The technology seems rather dapper and does away with the valvetrain of a four stroke engine, a major authority of losses and maintenance. The cylinder, including the combustion compartment, rotates around the piston as it moves through its stroke. Click here for more details on how the technology works. PGO hopes to mark down the costs of engine manufacturing while increasing power and lowering emissions. So far, though, no sui generis engines have been announced.
