There are statistically more small disasters than large. You are more likely to have a bedsit tire, car wreck, or get stuck on an icy day than you are to experience an all out nuclear war. It makes intuition to prepare for both the large and small disasters, but let’s start with the stingy since they happen to most of us somewhat often.
